A Hinds County deputy is fired then arrested by his colleagues. He's now charged with business burglary.
Forty-eight-year-old L.V. Myles was arrested Friday morning at the Raymond Detention Center . Sheriff Malcolm McMillin says Myles stole merchandise and cash from the Hinds County Community College golf pro shop on May seventh. Myles had been a deputy since October of 1994. McMillin describes Myles as a very likable man who did his job, but clues in the case pointed towards the deputy.
"Policing our own is one of the greatest responsibilities we have in law enforcement. This is one of probably the hardest things I've had to do since I've been sheriff," said McMillin.
Investigators say Myles wasn't on duty when he committed the crime. For his safety, Myles will be kept in a separate section of the Raymond Detention Center .
